  Canvas Learning Management System

A Learning Management System (LMS) is software that allows face-to-face and online instructors to create interactions to facilitate learning.

Canvas (by Instructure)

Canvas Links to an external site., is the current Learning Management System within the Alamo Colleges District. It is based on modern innovation and technology. It is designed to allow users-both faculty and students-to focus on teaching and learning. Many features are designed to improve student learning, course outcomes, and the teaching experience.

No matter what type of course you teach (face-to-face courses, hybrid courses, remote courses, or online courses), you will find tools in Canvas that will help both you and your students.

Many faculty members use Canvas for:

  • Attendance
  • Gradebook
  • Course Syllabus
  • Home Page
  • Announcements
  • Discussions
  • Quizzes
  • Inbox
