Top 10 Signs to look for when deciding how credible a website is:

  1. Does it look objective and factual or biased and opinionated?
  2. Is it using information to teach you something, or using information to sell you something?
  3. Is it loaded with ads that look like they are for cheesy products?
  4. Are there too many grammar, spelling and formatting errors?
  5. Do the links actually work, or are they all old or broken?
  6. Has the website been updated recently or does it seem abandoned?
  7. Is the site sponsored by (or does it have links to) reputable organizations?
  8. Are there references, and if so, are those sources reputable.
  9. Do you recognize any information that you already know is true?
  10. Is it a .edu site? Those have to be monitored and updated by schools, so they are usually good.
