Sample Grade Book
The Grade Book is automatically populated by the Assignments you create.
You will not actually create or alter columns in the grade book itself (other than entering grades).
Every assignment you add creates a column.
The assignment groups are listed at the far right, as well as the students' current class average in each assignment group and in the course as a whole.
Here's an example of a course with grades already entered:
Here is what the student sees:
Each of the little icons can be clicked for more info.
- Score received
- Comparative data to the rest of the class
- Dialogue with the instructor about the assignment
- The grading rubric used
The student can also enter "What If?" grades to see how a particular score will affect their overall class average. (These are not saved, of course.)
The Grade Book is one of Canvas's most robust and user-friendly features.
