Students Create Study Guides

Students can be required to contribute to a master list or collection of the important points, concepts, facts, formulas, etc. for the unit of study.

Some instructors divide students into groups and make each group responsible for synopsizing a chapter or section; others ask everyone to contribute a certain number of items.

The study guides can then be reviewed for accuracy (by you and the class) and shared publicly with the class as a content page or file. You can always add a few points if they were overlooked by the class.

We have all had the experience of studying for a test only to discover that what was on the test was not what we studied. Ugh! It's very reassuring to students if they know where the assessment content is coming from. Study guides can also be used to generate test questions.
