Student Groups Based Upon Topic

When a concept lends itself to several examples, or when there are several components to a complex topic, instructors may prefer to create several groups and allow students to self-enroll in the topic that interests them best. You can limit the number of members per group.

One common practice, then, is to have students engage in in-depth discussions or create group assignments such as a single essay or content page based upon their specific topic. You can give the same guidance to all groups. Group projects can be graded so that all members of a group get the same grade, or students are graded individually.
