CQ Migration: Should I Stay or Should I Go?
While most functionality that was found in Classic Quizzes has been developed into New Quizzes, there are a few limitations that may cause you to pause on transitioning the new assessment engine.

Stay with Classic Quizzes for now?
If your Classic Quizzes ...
- Have course files [i.e., images, media, or documents] embedded in a question, and plans to share these questions with other instructors via Item Bank or the "Share" process for Quizzes [See this series of Item Bank product blog posts Links to an external site. for more information.]
- Rely on Student Analytics reports for data collection
- Manage results visibility for correct answers to display within a certain timeframe [Coming Oct. 19, 2024 Links to an external site.]
- Need to provide students additional context with standalone text or prompts not tied to questions
- Use surveys used to gather learner feedback
- Use Respondus LockDown Browser settings frequently with Canvas Quizzes
- Need to be shared with other instructors via Canvas Commons
... you may want to hold off migrating to New Quizzes until the missing feature is introduced in a later Canvas Release.

If your Classic Quizzes ...
- Don't contain embedded course files such as images, media, or documents
- Don't require surveys or Student Analytics reports for data collection
- Don't require a set window for students to view correct answers
- Don't mind setting Respondus LockDown Browser settings for every course
- Can be shared with other instructors/courses via the traditional course import or sharing process
- Eager to try out the new Item Types
- Eager to share Item Banks with other Instructors
