Instructions

If we do go back to campus, there are going to be rules at SAC. The rules include:

FIRST: IF YOU OR SOMEONE NEAR YOU HAS COVID, DO NOT COME TO CAMPUS. Instead of coming to class, do the work in the Canvas modules for each class period.

  1. Each day you come to campus, the first thing you have to do is go to a check-in station where you will get your temperature taken and be given a wristband that will be good for one day only.
      • Even though the check-in takes only a few seconds, there may be lines and waiting, so PLEASE get to campus early enough to be able to check in BEFORE class, because there will be monitors preventing people from coming into the classroom buildings without a wristband.
      • If you don’t have a wristband but bypass the building monitor and walk into our class, my instructions are to tell you to go back downstairs and get a wristband.
      • If you are late to class, you are going to miss hearing information and doing the work together with us, and you will have to do it as homework, without the benefit of hearing us discuss the right answers. Therefore, you will want to make sure you get to campus early enough to take care of everything.
  1. You will have to go to the free on-campus testing station and get a free COVID test once a week.
  2. All students will be encouraged to wear masks indoors and to stay six feet apart when possible.
  3. I am fully vaccinated. I will wear a mask to walk around campus, but to lecture in class, I will probably wear a face shield instead so you can hear me better. I have never used one before, so I don’t know what that will be like. I can stand behind the computer podium, which is at least six feet away from the student desks in most classrooms. The computer monitor will also act as a bit of a shield.
  4. Students can try to sit apart from each other, but in smaller classrooms that will be hard. For this reason, it is important to stay masked in class, to stop germs from reaching other people.

If we are back on campus, I am hoping that people will be able to bring their laptops to class so that we can still do our assignments in Canvas, to minimize the spread of germs from passing around papers. If there is a day when you can't use a laptop in class, you can write your assignment answers on paper then bring them home and just type them into Canvas that night.
