PUBLISHING AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS
In the writing process, “publishing” means “to make public.”
Your writing becomes public when you show it to even one other person.
- With a school assignment, “publishing” usually means giving the paper to the teacher, but sometimes you may have a peer critique or other opportunity to let someone else look over your paper first.
- The two most important parts of publishing are correct formatting and meeting deadlines.
- Your assignment has to be neat and presentable, and formatted the way the instructions require.
- It must be in by the deadline. College professors, like bosses on the job, usually do not accept late work without some kind of penalty.
The other type of “publishing” that some assignments require is an oral presentation.
Instead of doing an oral presentation for this class, you will view some videos ABOUT oral presentation.
For each video, you will need to list the pros and cons of each presentation: the positive and negative points. Aim for at least two pros and two cons. There are many aspects to consider when evaluating the videos. Was the speaker effective? Was the information helpful? Was the format appropriate? Was the video a good learning tool? Who or why not?
Scoring:
1 point = you listed two or more pros AND two or more cons for the video
0 points = you didn’t do that
