THE NEXT STEP IN THE WRITING PROCESS AFTER DRAFTING IS REVISING.

Revising: Making Large Changes = ARMS

A – add more information if the thesis isn’t supported well enough.

R – remove anything that is not relevant to the thesis statement.

M – move: reorganize any pieces that are not in the right place.

S – Scrap and start over. If you got off to a very bad start, or you realize that what you did so far does not follow the instructions for the assignment, it may actually be easier to start over than to try to fix the bad draft.
